Feb 22 - Oswego Recap
The third time did not prove to be the charm for Homer as they lost 53-44 to Oswego. The girls dug themselves a 13 point deficit in the second quarter but rallied in the second half. The girls had a number of opportunities to take the lead late the in game but couldn't get over the hump. Oswego hit some timely shots and secured some timely rebounds to advance in the Class A tournament. Macy closed out her Homer career with a game high 18 points including three 3-pointers. Homer closed the season at 11-8.
Feb 21 - Sectional Play
Tonight the girls play at Oswego in the quarterfinal round of the section 3 class A tournament.
Feb 1 - Auburn Varsity Recap
Macy Boice was 7-12 from 2s and 2-5 from 3s to have 22 points, with 8 defensive rebounds and Caley Cornwell was 8-13 from 2s for 20 points, with 10 total rebounds, 9 of them defensive-they each also had 4 steals.
Brenna Johnson also had 11 points and played great man to man defense for us.
We started slow and stayed close for the first half but were behind by 3 at half thanks to a last second long court assist by Caley and basket by Macy. In the beginning of 3rd quarter we started slow again and went down 30-21 and 33-22 but crawled back with great team defense during the rest of the third and most of the fourth quarters, after we started attacking their zone defense. The final score was 59-47 and the girls are now 11-5 overall.
Jan 30 - ESM Recap
Both JV and Varsity girls beat ESM on Friday night. Varsity had 3 players score in double figures (Macy 18pts), (Caley 14 pts) and Brenna (10 pts). The girls are 10-5 overall and 5-1 in league play. Macy has now moved into 20th place on the all time scoring list with 431 points for her career.
The girls host Auburn on Jan 31 and then travel to Oswego on Friday night.
Jan 27 - Mexico recap
Last night the varsity girls started very slowly against Mexico but a strong third and fourth quarter allowed Homer to post a 48-13 victory. Macy Boice led all scorers with 19 points. The blowout win allowed significant playing time for all players and as a result Jasmine Joseph posted a season high 7 points.
The JV girls also won but I do not have a score to post.
Tonight both teams are in action at East Syracuse Minoa.
Jan 22 - Make up game AT Mexico Tonight
Jan 10 - Tonight's Mexico game has been postponed.
Jan 6 - Cortland Recap
It was rivalry night Thursday inside SUNY Cortland as Homer hosted the Cortland Purple Tigers. Both Homer squads came away with hardfought wins. In the night cap it was a see saw battle for most of the night but a key 11-0 run in the 3rd quarter allowed Homer to take a 9 point lead that it would never relinquish. Shawnessy (15 points) and Caley (9 points) led the way offensively in the 33-27 victory.
Tonight the boys play at Cortland High.....lets get to Cortland High School to support the team!
Jan 5 - CBA Recap
Tuesday evening the varsity girls used a strong second half to overcome a three point half time deficit. Homer prevailed 55-42 to improve to 6-5 on the season. 4 Trojans scored in double figures (Cary 10 pts, Brenna 10 pts, Caley, 13 pts and Shawnessy 14 pts).
The JV girls lost to CBA and are now 5-6.
Both teams are back in action tonight as Cortland comes to SUNY Cortland.
Jan 2 - Happy New Year

Dec 20 - Cortland Recap - Finally!
The losing streak to Cortland is officially over! It wasn't always pretty last night but Homer flexed its muscle in the 4th quarter to hold off the scrappy bunch from Cortland 43-34. If you see these kids and coaches give them a high five! The girls are 5-3 on the season and face JD next.
The JV girls were on the short end of a 38-34 score to Cortland and are now 4-4 on the season.
Next up is mighty Jamesville-DeWitt Thursday night at JD High School.
Dec 19 - Game Day - CORTLAND!
Tonight Homer travels across town to play the Cortland Purple Tigers. JV starts at 5:30 and Varsity should start at close to 7 PM. Can the Trojans end their long losing streak to Cortland? Come and find out as you cheer on your Trojans.
Dec 14 - Fulton Recap
The varsity girls came out clicking on both ends of the court. Full court pressure forced Fulton into numerous turnovers and quick shots. On offense Homer got very good ball movement and the girls were converting at the basket. The girls led 22-7 after one and cruised to a 66-43 win. Macy Boice led the team with 19 points. The girls are now 4-2 on the season.
The JV girls were on the wrong end of a 39-37 score. The juniors had a number of chances in the last minyute to tie the game but couldn't get over the hump. The girls are now 4-2 on the season.
Both teams are in action on Friday Dec 16 against Oswego. The game is at SUNY Cortland.
Dec 6 - Bishop Grimes Recap
The JV game looked like it might be a blowout early but the Jr. Lady Cobras made a second half rally to make things interesting. In the end Homer showed enough poise and resolve to come away with a well earned 31-26 victory that leaves the Jr Trojans at 3-1 on the season.
In the varsity night cap Azariah Wade showed why she is one of the top players in all of Section 3. She was able to do what she wanted to offensively and ended the night with 27 points. Homer never really got anything going on offense with the main cause being Bishop Grimes defense. Whether it was the full court press or on-ball pressure in the half court the Lady Cobras were just plain disruptive.
Next up for Homer is a home game on Saturday night against Mexico at SUNY Cortland. JV action starts the evenings double feature at 7 PM.
Note - Stats have been entered at MaxPreps up through the ESM game.
Dec 3 - ESM Game Recap
With a late start and it being the home opener no one would have blamed the Trojans for coming out a bit flat. Not only did the girls not come out flat they put up a first quarter that you dream of. From the opening tip the girls ran, applied pressure and ran more. It resulted in a first quarter that ended with the host Trojans up 25-5 over the visiting Spartans. The game was never seriously in doubt after that fast start and every Trojan played solid minutes in the 68-44 win.
High scorer for the game was Shawnessy Earle with 16 points. Right behind her was Caley Cornwell with 14 points and then Brenna Johnson with 10 points. Dakota Kleefeld provided another solid effort off the bench with 8 points. Allison Kristoff also came off the bench and scored her first career varsity points (4).
Coach Tabel has the girls playing well and they will need to continue the current level of play as they head to Bishop Grimes on Monday night. Bishop Grimes is a well rounded team that plays in Class B. They will look to feature 6'1 post player Azariah Wade (known as AZ). Lets get a big crowd up to East Syracuse and cheer our girls on!
Homer JV also played a very good game in their home opener. Jerze Joseph led the team with 15 points while Casidee Peck contributed 6 points in the 35-25 victory. The girls are now 2-1 on the season.

Dec 1 - Auburn Game Recap
Homer JV played a tightly contested game against Auburn. While the Jr Trojans lost 38-31 they displayed a never say die attitude throughout the game. This team has a lot of potential!
The varsity game saw our Trojans come out with a pep in their step. The quality of play was substantially improved from the Oneida game. Specifically, the girls ran better offense and played defense with a purpose. Our Trojans won 48-37 to improve to 1-1 on the season. High scorers for the game were Macy Boice and Shawnessy Earle who both scored 14 points and both had two 3 pointers. Dakota Kleefeld had 8 points off the bench. DD Parge did a nice job at guard off the bench as well with 2 points and some nice passes. The team must now get back to work today as they have a Friday night tilt against ESM.
Friday's game vs ESM will be played at SUNY Cortland. JV action starts at 6:30 PM.
